How to Access and Use the Accounting Mapping Feature

Prerequisites

The Accounting Mapping feature requires data from the integrations with accounting software QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks On-Premise, and Xero. Only users with a financial role can use this feature.

Accessing the Account Mapping feature

To access this feature, go to Settings > Accounting Mapping.



This action will show the Accounting Dashboard, where you can do the following: 

• Use the data from the integrated accounting software, and select a Financial Statement to map onto Profit & Loss or Balance Sheet. 
• Review all sub-accounts displayed on the left side. 
• Select the appropriate Mapping Template for our Partnership Apps: 
  

  Bering McKinley	Simple Numbers
  Encore	Taylor Business Group TAAP
  MSP Advisor	Technology Marketing Toolkit
  MSPFinance Team	TruMethods WC
  N-able Benchmark	Service Leadership SLI (Most commonly used option for general mapping)

• Users can also create new templates by clicking the Edit Mapping Templates link on the upper right corner of the dashboard.
  
  
  Please Submit a Request in the Help Center after creating your mapping template so we can help you integrate it with the mapping data.

Setting up the accounting mapping for your software 

To map accounts for your software:

1. Go to the Accounting Dashboard page and select your accounting software from the dropdown list. 
2. Move to the next dropdown list and select Profit & Loss Statement or Balance Sheet. 
3. Next, go to the right column and select an account template or category to map onto. 
4. Then select an item on the left column and drag it to an account category on the right column. 
   The mapped account will gray out in the Accounting Software section on the left and be available under the account category.
   
5. Click Save.
   
   
   Alternatively, you can use the search bar to start mapping an account. Browse the right column and select the accounting software for the accounts that will be mapped. Search for a category, and drag an account from the left column to this category.
   
   
   

How to use the mapped accounts

To use the mapped accounts in widgets:

1. On the MSPbots app, go to Widgets. 
2. Select a widget, go to Dataset, and select mapped from the Dataset dropdown list. 
   
   
   
   
3. Select the map in the Column Name field. 
   
   
   
   
   The selection currently shows the maps available to income accounts only. Balance Sheets will also be available soon.
